Fall 2023 - Mavericks Youth Soccer League

Manhattan Park District Mavericks Youth Soccer (MPD Mavericks) partners with the Mokena Park District to participate in an recreation level developmental league. This recreational league focuses on teaching fundamental skills to beginner and novice players ages 4yrs – 8^th Grade. Utilizing small-sided games, this program is designed to maximize opportunities for ‘touches on the ball’ and active playing time for each player. This league follows typical Soccer rules, with modifications made to promote smooth and fluid game play with minimal stoppages.

Team rosters will be created shortly after the registration deadline and player evaluations. Coaches/Managers will be in contact with players on their team when practices begin in early April. Age 4-K teams play completely in-house schedule in Manhattan ONLY. Grade school division teams will play HOME/AWAY regular season schedule vs Manhattan/Mokena teams. Generally, practices begin in early April, regular season games will late April and the league wraps up with a post-season tournament at the end of June.

Manhattan Park District provides all players with uniform top only. Players responsible for providing own socks, shorts, cleats (no toe cleat) and shin guards.

Below is a description of the different age divisions we offer at Manhattan Park District Mavericks Soccer.

Age 4 - Kindergarten	The 4-K (Pre-K) division play 4 - 6 minute quarters. 4 players vs 4 players on the field at a time with no goalies. Substitutions 'on the fly' are allowed and one coach from each team is allowed on the field during play. The Pre-K division typically plays an entirely in-house schedule. 'Throw Ins' are replaced with 'Kick Ins' at this level, to keep the game moving. Fouls and Free Kicks are typically not called at this level, unless fouls appear aggressive and dangerous. Game scores and standings are not recorded at this level.
Grades 1-2	The Grade 1-3 division play 4 - 10 minute quarters. 6 players vs 6 players on the field at a time, plus a goalie. Substitutions on the fly are allowed at this level, coaches are NOT allowed on the field during play at this level. This division plays a home and away schedule with Mokena teams. 'Throw Ins' are introduced at this level and fouls are called. Game scores and league standings are recorded at this level.
